    Cherry Chocolate Pie


    9 inch pie shell, baked
    21 oz. can cherry pie filling
    1/2 cup chopped almonds
    1 tsp. almond extract
    11/2 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    4 Tbsp. butter
    Chocolate curls or almonds, sliced
    Whipped cream or topping


    Make sure pie shell is cool.  Sprinkle almonds in
    bottom of pastry.  Heat chocolate and 1 Tbsp.
    butter in a small pan over very low heat until
    melted, stirring constantly.  Stir in remaining butter
    if necessary to achieve pouring consistency.  
    Drizzle chocolate mixture over almonds.  Spoon
    cherry fruit filling into pastry.  
    Bake at 350 until bubbly - about 30 minutes.
    Cool on rack.  Garnish pie with whipped cream
    around edge and chocolate curls.
